Daily Google News Article Digest, Delivered to Google Sheets

Every morning, n8n pulls the day's Google News articles, summarizes them, and has Google Sheets append it as a new row in a spreadsheet — a clean daily digest with zero manual work.

difficulty Beginnersetup 25 minresult A hands-off n8n workflow where every relevant Google News article automatically reaches Google Sheets — append it as a new row in a spreadsheet.
  1. 1

    Fetch Google News data

Add an HTTP Request node (or the native Google News node if you have credentials set up) and point it at the Google News API. Run on a daily Schedule Trigger and fetch recent articles. Add a Schedule Trigger before it if this recipe runs on a timer, or a Webhook node if Google News can push events directly.

  2. 2

Shape the data with a Set node

Add a Set node after the fetch step to pull out the fields you need — e.g. id, title (or name), status, and updated_at from the Google News article. This keeps the rest of the workflow clean and readable.

  3. 3

Add a Google Sheets node set to operation Append Row. Connect your Google account, choose the Spreadsheet and Sheet, and map each field from the Set node to a matching column.

  4. 4

    Activate and test

Click Activate in the top-right corner. Trigger a real article in Google News (or run the workflow manually against existing data) and confirm it lands correctly in Google Sheets. Once verified, this runs hands-off.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to code anything?

No. n8n is a visual, drag-and-drop builder. You connect your Google News and Google Sheets accounts, map the fields, and activate — no code required.

Where do I get my Google News API credentials?

In your Google News account settings, look for "API", "Developers" or "Integrations" and generate an API key or token. Paste it into n8n's HTTP Request node (as a header or credential) or the native Google News node if one is available.

Can I filter which items trigger this workflow?

Yes. Add an `IF` node after the Set node with a condition on any field (status, amount, tag, etc.). Wire the TRUE branch to the Google Sheets step and leave FALSE empty to skip the rest.
