New Intercom conversation → Trello Instantly

The moment a new Intercom conversation appears, n8n captures it and lets Trello create a Trello card — no manual checking, no missed items.

difficulty Beginnersetup 25 minresult A hands-off n8n workflow where every relevant Intercom conversation automatically reaches Trello — create a Trello card.
  1. 1

    Fetch Intercom data

Add an HTTP Request node (or the native Intercom node if you have credentials set up) and point it at the Intercom API. Poll Intercom for new conversations. Add a Schedule Trigger before it if this recipe runs on a timer, or a Webhook node if Intercom can push events directly.

  2. 2

Shape the data with a Set node

Add a Set node after the fetch step to pull out the fields you need — e.g. id, title (or name), status, and updated_at from the Intercom conversation. This keeps the rest of the workflow clean and readable.

  3. 3

    Send it to Trello

Add a Trello node set to operation Create a card. Connect your account, pick the Board and List, and set the card Name/Description from the Set-node fields.

  4. 4

    Activate and test

Click Activate in the top-right corner. Trigger a real conversation in Intercom (or run the workflow manually against existing data) and confirm it lands correctly in Trello. Once verified, this runs hands-off.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to code anything?

No. n8n is a visual, drag-and-drop builder. You connect your Intercom and Trello accounts, map the fields, and activate — no code required.

Where do I get my Intercom API credentials?

In your Intercom account settings, look for "API", "Developers" or "Integrations" and generate an API key or token. Paste it into n8n's HTTP Request node (as a header or credential) or the native Intercom node if one is available.

Can I filter which items trigger this workflow?

Yes. Add an `IF` node after the Set node with a condition on any field (status, amount, tag, etc.). Wire the TRUE branch to the Trello step and leave FALSE empty to skip the rest.
