  1. 1

    Add the Mailchimp Trigger node

Start with a Mailchimp Trigger node — connect your Mailchimp account, pick the Audience (list), and set the event to subscribe. This fires the workflow the moment a new subscriber arrives.

  2. 2

Map the fields with a Set node

Add a Set node after the trigger to shape the data cleanly. Create fields: email to {{ $json.data.email }}, first_name to {{ $json.data.merges.FNAME }}, and subscribed_at to {{ $now.toISO() }}. This turns the raw payload into tidy values your destination can use.

  3. 3

    Send it to Airtable

Add an Airtable node set to operation Create. Connect your Airtable token, pick the Base and Table, and map the fields from the Set node to your Airtable columns. Field names must match your table exactly.

  4. 4

    Activate and test

Click Activate in the top-right of the canvas. Trigger a test subscriber in Mailchimp, then confirm it appears in Airtable. Once it works, you're done — every new subscriber now flows through automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any coding skills to set this up?

No. n8n is a visual, drag-and-drop tool. You connect your Mailchimp and Airtable accounts, point the nodes at the right form/sheet/channel, map the fields, and activate. No code required.

Can I filter which subscribers get sent to Airtable?

Yes. Add an `IF` node between the Set node and the Airtable node with a condition (for example, only send when an amount is above a threshold or a field equals a value). Wire the TRUE branch to Airtable and leave FALSE empty to skip the rest.

Can I send each subscriber to more than one place at once?

Absolutely. Branch the workflow after the Set node: connect it to multiple destination nodes so the same subscriber lands in Airtable and, say, Slack or a spreadsheet simultaneously.
