Urgent Google Workspace Event? Escalate to Google Sheets Immediately
This n8n workflow flags any high-priority Google Workspace event and has Google Sheets append it as a new row in a spreadsheet right away, so nothing important sits unread.
- 1
Fetch Google Workspace data
Add an
HTTP Requestnode (or the native Google Workspace node if you have credentials set up) and point it at the Google Workspace API. Poll Google Workspace for new events and filter for urgency. Add aSchedule Triggerbefore it if this recipe runs on a timer, or aWebhooknode if Google Workspace can push events directly. - 2
Shape the data with a Set node
Add a
Setnode after the fetch step to pull out the fields you need — e.g.id,title(orname),status, andupdated_atfrom the Google Workspace event. This keeps the rest of the workflow clean and readable. - 3
Send it to Google Sheets
Add a
Google Sheetsnode set to operationAppend Row. Connect your Google account, choose theSpreadsheetandSheet, and map each field from the Set node to a matching column. - 4
Activate and test
Click
Activatein the top-right corner. Trigger a real event in Google Workspace (or run the workflow manually against existing data) and confirm it lands correctly in Google Sheets. Once verified, this runs hands-off.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to code anything?
No. n8n is a visual, drag-and-drop builder. You connect your Google Workspace and Google Sheets accounts, map the fields, and activate — no code required.
Where do I get my Google Workspace API credentials?
In your Google Workspace account settings, look for "API", "Developers" or "Integrations" and generate an API key or token. Paste it into n8n's HTTP Request node (as a header or credential) or the native Google Workspace node if one is available.
Can this run on a schedule instead of in real time?
Yes — swap the trigger for a `Schedule Trigger` set to whatever interval fits (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily). The rest of the workflow stays the same.
